Internships
The NRDPFC participates in internship placements by providing students from programs such as the Biotech-Technologist Forensic advanced diploma program at Sir Sanford Fleming College and the Bachelor of Forensic Science at Trent University a place to complete placements required as part of the program curriculum in order to graduate. We have also hosted interns from the University of Toronto and the University of Bayreuth, Germany. NRDPFC provides an environment where students can learn new skills and gain experience practicing the skills they have been taught already. These internships give the students an opportunity to work in a professional laboratory environment and learn from people working in the field.
The NRDPFC works together with the students to:
- Establish personal learning goals and objectives for growth and development
- Develop skills and effectively integrate classroom knowledge and apply it in the field
- Develop first hand understanding of the operation of a specific industry organization
The NRDPFC Automation Laboratory provides the use of state of the art automated laboratory equipment such as liquid handling etc. Where students have the opportunity to see first-hand how automation laboratory equipment can process DNA samples with high-throughput efficiency.
