Project Outline

Population Genetics of Bicknell's Thrush (Catharus bicknellii).

Bicknell's Thrush (Catharus bicknellii) is a songbird that breeds in Eastern Canada and Quebec. This species has been given 'Special Concern' status by COSEWIC. My project will look at gender identification and gender ratios using CHD-W and CHD-Z genes. I will also be looking at gene flow between different geographical regions and genetic variation within identified populations using sixmicrosatellite loci.
