About UsThe Centre (NRDPFC) represents a partnership between Trent University and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (OMNR ) and the current facilities in the DNA Building were opened in 2006 as a result of funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Ontario Innovation Trust (OIT). The infrastructure includes a state of the art environmentally controlled Aurora Greenhouse, a Bio-containment Level III facility, and ancient DNA lab, a wildlife Disease laboratory, small and large animal autopsy facilities, and Genomics and Automation Laboratories. The Automation facility contains 2 ABI Automated sequencers, 4 automated liquid handlers, an automated storage freezer, and an ABI real-time pcr. This facility offers DNA isolation and characterization services and automated DNA Profiling and sequencing. The facility includes the Wildlife DNA Forensic laboratory that proved services for a number of Canadian and International agencies. These facilities support projects of graduate students, OMNR research programs and research programs of Trent faculty.
